Executive Director of the Association for Family Planning, Duarte Vilar, says the uncertainty about the future may cause increase in the number of abortions

Amadora-Sintra in hospital, for example, abortions increased by 23 percent, while in the clinic of Arcos, which performs thousands of abortions referred by public hospitals, the increase was 24 percent.
The Executive Director of the Association for Family Planning accepts that this increase is related to the economic crisis. Duarte Vilar says the uncertainty about the future can lead many families to stop unplanned pregnancies.
Duarte Vilar says that is normal to increase the number of abortions in the first years after decriminalization.
The Directorate General of Health will review only the number of voluntary interruptions of pregnancy in the first half of the year at the end of next month.
